Deacon + Richardson were appointed to design and deliver a new changing room facility for the outdoor swimming pool at Woodlarks Campsite in Surrey. The building was tailored to meet the needs of campers with a wide range of disabilities.

Located in a secluded area of the site, the timber-framed structure was designed for efficient construction during the six-month autumn/winter closure period. Accessibility was a key focus, with level thresholds, hoist provision throughout, grab rails, and flexibility for future adaptations.

A complex air handling and heating system is discreetly integrated within the roof void, maintaining a comfortable internal environment while accommodating the building’s intermittent use.

Externally, a carefully chosen palette of materials complements the natural beauty of the site and the simplicity of the campsite. Inside, durable, hygienic finishes ensure ease of maintenance and longevity.

Woodlarks provide accessible camping facilities for people with all kind of disabilities through a series of summer camps, more information on the services they offer can be found here.
