Deacon + Richardson were appointed to design and oversee the extensive redevelopment of a 5 bedroom house on Hill Brow, Hove.

We completely refurbished the house from top to bottom, adding two-story side extensions on both sides to complement the host property. The project also included a new bespoke kitchen, building services, and internal finishes throughout.

A contemporary single storey rear extension and generous terrace was also added. Large glazed sliding doors maximise natural light and take advantage of the expansive views. A slender overhanging canopy was incorporated to provide solar shading, minimising summertime overheating, and providing shelter during wetter days.

New locally sourced multi-stock brickwork was used on the new extension. A low pitch standing seam roof sits above with matching metal gutters and soffit. Extensions to the main house were finished in render with feature quoins to match the original building.

Deacon and Richardson Architects provided a complete service. In addition to the design and statutory applications we managed the procurement process, executed a building contract between the client and main contractor and attended regular three weekly site meetings.

In a second phase of works D+R designed a new pool house and home gym in outbuildings situated in the rear garden. These buildings were completed under the rules of Permitted Development and the materials mirror those used on the extension to the host house, including locally sourced brickwork and standing seam zinc.
