Deacon + Richardson were appointed to deliver a contemporary extension and internal alterations to a detached 1930s home in the Hove Park area of East Sussex. The brief was to create a bright, spacious rear extension to house a bespoke kitchen and informal dining area.

The design focused on refined simplicity that complemented the original house while discreetly integrating the client’s functional needs. Hidden automated blinds, concealed lighting, and bespoke joinery created a clean, clutter-free interior.

A light-filled atmosphere was achieved through large slimline sliding doors and a generous rooflight above the dining area. To reinforce the “inside-outside” feel, level thresholds and precisely aligned external patio slabs with internal limestone flooring were used throughout.

The kitchen, designed and made by Martin Moore, reflected the client’s vision for a timeless, personalised space. Works to the existing hallway included custom pull-out cupboards for efficient storage of daily essentials.

Deacon + Richardson Architects provided a full architectural service, including planning applications, detailed design, procurement, contract administration, and regular site coordination—ensuring the Hove extension was delivered with care, precision, and lasting quality.
